Music Video Preparation!!!

I've just listened to a variety of tracks and I have made a decision. I've chosen 'Tribal Man Skank' by Funkin Kofi B, it's a UK Funky House tune which is the one of the most popular genres at the moment amongst us teenagers. The track is very upbeat and catchy, I can imagine me skanking (dancing) to it!!!

What is UK Funky?
According to Wikipedia "UK Funky (sometimes known as Funky) is a genre of electronic dance music from the United Kingdom that is heavily influenced by UK Garage, electro house, broken beat, soca music, and afrobeat. Typically, UK Funky blends beats, bass loops and synths with Latin percussion and contemporary R&B-style vocals at around 135 beats per minute.

Emerging in the late-2000s, UK Funky has been described by The Guardian as "probably the most exciting development in UK music since garage became grime".

I will be contacting Funkin Kofi B to get the lyrics of 'Tribal Man Skank' and the track itself.

Music and Copyright homework questions (Miss Hiltunen)

What are some of the arguments for and against copyrighting music?

The primary purpose of the copyright law is not so much to protect the interests of the creators, but rather to promote the progress of science and the useful arts—that is—knowledge. To accomplish this purpose, copyright ownership encourages authors/creators in their efforts by granting them a temporary monopoly, or ownership of exclusive rights for a specified length of time.

However, this monopoly is somewhat limited when it conflicts with an overriding public interest, such as encouraging new creative and intellectual works, or the necessity for some members of the public to make a single copy of a work for non profit, educational purposes.

I see the copyright law as a positive impact because it executes punishments for illegally downloading music. For example, RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is cracking down on campuses. Sarah Barg, a sophomore at University of Nebraska, had to pay a 3,000 dollar settlement for downloading 381 songs or face being sued. She is one of 61 students at Nebraska caught, but there are more than 60 other colleges across the country that have students being sued. This new aggressive policy towards illegally downloading music is taking aim at college students to stem the ingrained habits of downloading and sharing music on campus. Making an example of a few and frightening the rest, these scare tactics are yet to be proven effective but most likely have stemmed those caught from illegally acquiring music on-line.

On the other hand the scale at which people (preferably students) are downloading music which has been copyrighted is very wide. Technology is advancing everyday, making it more difficult for perpetrators to be punished. Even though creators want their work to be protected it's only for a certain amount of time. Also, if someone purchases a book or CD it becomes their property and therefore have the authority to lend or share their material.

The Go! Team AIR RAIDER (Mood Board)

I have chosen this image because I think it represents the opening sound effects of an air raid. In my imagination I visualise brave pilots in aeroplanes loaded with ammo, flying across their enemies’ front line! Very militant!!!

I've decided to choose this image of women in different colourful outfits as it highlights the upbeat music which played soon after the opening effects of the air raid. Like their outfits, these ladies will be full of energy and dancing. A perfect similarity!!!
